Some Basic Data about the PUC

The Waterworks PUC, the harbinger of the present Waterworks and Sewerage PUC Subotica, were established under the Subotica Municipality People Council’s Decision of 6, February 1962.

The Company was formed on 12 March 1962 and this date is considered the date, when the Subotica Waterworks and Sewerage PUC were established.

The beginnings of organised water supply in Subotica date in 1882, when a locksmith, a certain Mr Jasenovic drilled the first well in front of the Franciscan Church and equipped it fully.

Subotica Waterworks and Sewerage PUC employ 237 employees at present. Of that number 15% are holders of higher education degree, 20% are well qualified, while the most numerous group of 30% are with secondary education background.

Waste Water Collection and Treatment

  • Over 230 kms of sewerage network
  • 14.000 connections to the sewerage network
  • 27.000 cubic litres a day – 100.000 Eq inhabitants is the capacity of the Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) in Subotica.
  • The building of the new Subotica WWTP is underway and it will provide sufficient capacity and the full mechanical, biological and chemical treatment of waste waters.
